Fresh Fish

Fresh fish in freshwater aquariums are often found among those who are beginners to stocking aquariums. Many experts advise that freshwater fish are easier for beginners to handle than saltwater fish when they are new to the hobby of maintaining a fish tank.

One of the main reasons why some people are advised to start out their fresh fish tank with goldfish is because goldfish are cheap and considered to be good fish to practice with. Even though it sounds harsh, many beginners are simply not going to know how to properly care for their fish at first. This often results in the death of these fish.

As heartless as it sounds, it’s true that if the fish are likely to die, it is better that the cheaper ones die instead of more expensive fresh fish. Most goldfish cost less than 10 cents.

If goldfish seem to be a little too plain, there are other options available. For a slightly higher cost, fancy goldfish can be purchased. These are similar to goldfish, but the difference lies in the fact that these fresh fish are specifically bred to enhance certain colors or characteristics of the body. For example, fancy goldfish sometimes have a tail or head that features a unique shape.

Goldfish are members of the carp family. This family of fresh fish is the largest group of fish in the northern hemisphere.
