Koi Fish
One of the first things people think about when they see
koi fish is that they look like big goldfish. While this is true, there
is a lot more to these fish than one might think.
Here are four facts you may not know about koi fish:
• They are tough – Koi fish might be beautiful
to look at, but they are pretty tough as well. In fact, these fish are
even able to survive in freezing temperatures. Still, a floating heater
in the winter might be appreciated by the fish.
• They thrive outdoors – Because koi fish
can grow up to two-feet long, they are not fish that typically do well
in smaller indoor tanks or aquariums. Many people take joy in seeing
their koi in outdoor ponds because it is more similar to their natural
environment.
• They grow accustomed to owners – Owners
who do a god job in feeding and adequately caring for their koi fish
are rewarded by the fish if the owners are patient. Once a person has
earned the trust of his fish, many of them will actually eat directly
from the owner’s hand.
• Lucky fish – Koi fish are originally
from China. According to Chinese lore, these fish bring good luck to
their owners.
