Koi pond filters

Even though koi pond filters are often purchased simply to keep the pond looking clear, these filters do much more that is not always evident to the naked eye.

One of the relatively new innovations used in koi pond filters is the pressurized pond filter. This filter is best utilized in fish ponds or water gardens. Most pressurized bio-filters do more than just clean the water. They also are powerful enough that they are able to move water to the top of a fountain or waterfall while staying out of view to those who visit the garden.

Even though these koi pond filters might be thought to be similar to a gravity-discharge filter, these pressurized bio filters can be placed away from the pond. The distance between the filter and the pond depends on how much hose the owner is willing to use. Because a visible hose takes away from the ambiance of the garden, most choose to keep the filter close to the pond.

The maintenance of these koi pond filters is kept to a minimum thanks to the self-cleaning functions offered by many brands. A simple push of a button will force trapped dirt and other debris out of the system.
